This English text translates the French conditions générales d’utilisation, which prevail.
1. Purpose
These terms of use govern the use of Tyrvanor, a free persistent strategy game, its website, tyrvanor.com, and its wiki (the “service”). The service is published by a private individual, on a non-professional basis (see the legal notice), called “the publisher” below.
By creating an account, you accept these terms. You may read the website and the wiki without an account; these terms then apply to them as far as they concern them.
2. Access to the game
The game is free, without ads or purchases. It plays in a recent browser; your internet access and equipment are your own.
The game is meant for players aged 15 and over. If you are under 15, you need a parent’s permission to create an account.
3. Your account
- Each server is a world of its own, with its own accounts.
- One account per person and per server. Your account is personal: you may not sell, transfer or share it.
- Give a valid email address that is yours, and keep your password secret. You are responsible for what is done from your account; if you think someone else has used it, tell us.
- A realm left 30 days without a sign-in, or 60 days if it rests in Sanctuary, crumbles: its game data is deleted, and the account stays, free to found a new one.
4. Rules of conduct
The world is shared: it must stay pleasant for everyone. You may not:
- cheat: use bots, scripts or programs that play for you or read the game for your benefit, or exploit a bug instead of reporting it;
- play several accounts on one server, or create accounts to earn invitation rewards;
- harass, threaten or insult a player, make hateful, discriminatory, sexual or violent remarks, or publish any illegal content, in the chat as in the names of lords, strongholds or Orders;
- impersonate another player or the publisher, publish other people’s personal data, advertise or send mass messages;
- attack or overload the service or try to get around its security.
Attacking, plundering and scouting other lords is part of the game; harassing a player outside the game’s rules is not.
5. Your content
The names you choose and the lines you write remain your responsibility. You allow the publisher, free of charge, to keep them and show them in the service for as long as they are kept (see the privacy policy). The publisher may remove or rename any content that breaks these terms or the law. To report content, see the legal notice.
6. Game currency and items
Fateshards, resources, boons and everything else in the game are parts of the game: they have no monetary value, cannot be bought, and may not be sold or exchanged for money or anything outside the game. They exist only in the game, whose rules may change to balance it.
7. Sanctions
Depending on how serious a breach is, the publisher may give a warning, remove content, rename a lord, a stronghold or an Order, take back what was gained by cheating, suspend an account or delete it. For a serious breach (illegal content, cheating, attacks on security), the sanction may be immediate. You may contest a sanction by writing to contact@tyrvanor.com.
8. Availability and changes to the game
The service is provided free of charge, as it is. The publisher does their best to keep it available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, an incident or force majeure. The game evolves: its rules, balance and content may change. A server may be reset or closed; the publisher then announces it in advance in the news whenever possible. These changes and interruptions give no right to compensation.
9. Liability
The publisher is only liable for direct damage caused by their own fault, within the limits the law allows. They are not liable for lost progress in the game, nor for damage due to your equipment, your connection or the use you make of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes a liability the law does not allow to be excluded.
10. Intellectual property
The game, its texts, code and presentation belong to the publisher; third-party works are used under their licences (see the credits). You may share screenshots and videos of the game, for non-commercial purposes. Any other reproduction or reuse, in particular extracting the art, needs the publisher’s permission.
11. Personal data
The privacy policy explains how your data is processed and how to exercise your rights.
12. Duration and termination
These terms apply as long as you have an account. You may stop playing at any time and ask for your account to be deleted at contact@tyrvanor.com. The publisher may delete an account that breaks these terms (section 7), or end the service, announcing it in advance whenever possible.
13. Changes to these terms
The publisher may change these terms. The new version is published here, with its date, and an important change is announced in the news. Playing on after it takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, you may ask for your account to be deleted.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In case of disagreement, first write to contact@tyrvanor.com to find an amicable solution. Failing that, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts under French law.
